Contos por palabras (‘Stories for Words’)

Synopsis

An original collection of short stories, including a variety of themes and in which several narrative techniques are used, preceded by an introduction which contextualises them and provides them with a sense of unity. The common link between them is that they are all based on the classified ads which appear in newspapers. Starting from concise sentences, such as “Are you looking for a partner?”, “Children TV ad”, “Manicure needed urgently” or “Professional window-cleaner required”, the author demonstrates his enormous ability to conjure up stories – fantastic, fun and mysterious – which first of all stir up curiosity, then surprise and finally delight the reader. Everything that degrades life is criticized in these stories, not only in an environmental sense but also with regard to people, and at the same time they defend the need for fantasy and imagination in our lives.
